Closing the Chapter: My Path Through Basic Sciences

It’s official: I’ve crossed the finish line of my basic biomedical science courses. Looking back at that day-one syllabus, I feel a massive weight lifted off my shoulders. Surviving these foundational sciences feels like a true rite of passage, and I’m proud of how I handled the challenge. Here is the breakdown of my “core era.”

The Report Card

  • Clinical Anatomy: A
  • Biochemistry: B
  • Structure and Function: B

These results bring my current GPA to 3.36. While Structure and Function definitely tested my sanity, I’m thrilled to walk away with an “A” in Clinical Anatomy.

Diving Into the Nitty-Gritty

With the foundations behind me, my schedule now shifts toward my podiatry core classes. I couldn’t be more excited to move into my specialty.

The New Lineup:

  • Lower Extremity Anatomy: Getting hyper-focused on everything from the hip down.
  • Neuroscience: Unlocking the mysteries of the brain and nervous system (pray for my synapses).
  • Biomechanics: The physics of human movement.
  • Understanding Clinical Research: Learning how to separate the breakthrough science from the noise.
The New Standard

I’ve officially entered the “one exam per week” stage of my life, and I’m actually leaning into it. The modular system sharpened my ability to manage a heavy workload, but the stakes feel different now. There is no “skimming” of this material. I need to master every single detail because this isn’t just theory anymore—it’s my career.
