WOW! I cannot believe I’m writing this, but I’m officially three weeks into my P2 year. Boy, is it busy—but that’s a story for another time.
Looking back, here is a quick recap of what I tackled during my P1 year:
In just 9 months, I powered through 68 credits and earned a 3.17 GPA! I completed coursework
- Biochemistry & Neuroscience
- Clinical Anatomy & Lower Extremity Anatomy
- Structure and Function & Biomechanics
- Podiatric Medicine
- Foundations of Interprofessional Practice
- Microbiology and Immunology
- Essential Clinical Reasoning Skills
As challenging as the academics were, I grew even more outside the classroom. I started running (currently hitting 5.3 miles a week!) and realized that my mind is often my own worst enemy. Going to therapy became my anchor to stay sane through the pressure. Along the way, I went on countless adventures, learned that friends come and go, and realized life is simply too short for regrets.
P1 year proved that I can conquer medical school while still building a life outside of it. Honestly, despite the constant stress of medical school, I feel healthier than ever. I certainly faced my fair share of struggles along the way, but I proved to myself that I can truly thrive through it all.
